General Manager £40000 To £50000 Basic + 3 Month Salary Bonus, Executive Company Car, Pension, Health Care.
My client is the Worlds leading manufacturer of Lighting, Utility and Communication poles and towers. With over a billion pounds turnover they are now looking to heavily invest in the UK marketplace and are seeking a General Manager for there Northern Branch.
THE ROLE.
In the context of the lighting & traffic poles activity of the group, the General manager is responsible for sales, customer service*engineering, operations (manufacturing, quality, human resources, safety) and controlling in order to develop the performance and results of his entity in coherence with the group expectations. In this role his*her challenge is to grow the Northern organisation from a start up operation to a leading UK poles manufacturer recognised by its customers for his outstanding product quality and service.
- The market is driven by 3 major actors: OEM`s, municipalities (Local Authorities), wholesalers and contractors. The commercial and marketing approach aims at knowing and influencing each one of these actors. - End users asking for product for functional use (standard products) and specific products tailored and made specifically for a precise need (engineered products). The market is driven by service and costs. End users are mainly based in the UK. - Knowledge of products, industrial processes and norms are essential to meet customers` expectations on a worldwide basis in terms of innovation, design and specificities.
Main Activities * responsibilities:
- 50% : Sales & Customer service - Business development - Sales coaching - Competition benchmarking - Pricing & margin control
- 25 % : Operations - S&OP - Day to day planning of production given orders - Capacity availability : subcontracting, temporary workers… - Continuous improvement - Cost reductions - Investments - OTD, quality and safety
- 15 % : Management*Human Resources - Internal communication – quarterly presentations - Teams & performance management - recruitment and dismissal - structural absenteeism follow up - safety
- 10 % : Business review, control, strategic planning, reporting - Investments, productivity improvements, subvention research - Innovations, new products - Forecasting - Budgeting
- My Clients factory is a start up operation. The challenge is to solve daily problems and sticking to a plan by enthusiasm, creativity and motivating others.
- Implementation of business systems and procedures. These need to be developed or derived from other Company operations.
- The major challenge is to meet objectives and financial requirements of the group: building trust through data and reporting accuracy.
- Balance the overall constraints (legal, work laws) with competitive requirements: attract and develop young people, develop competencies and performance.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Experience in Exterior Lighting and production management. - Experience in sales - Knowledge of materials, innovation and specific technical aspects of the activity. - Knowledge of commercial negotiation, market approach.
